Keep Your Microgreens Safe in Hot and Humid Weather
“Keep your little seeds and plants inside when it’s too hot and too humid!”
Mould can become a real challenge when growing microgreens in warm and humid conditions. But with a few simple steps, you can prevent it and still enjoy a healthy harvest.
Why Mould Happens
Mould grows when there is:
-
Warm temperatures
-
High humidity
-
Poor airflow
To reduce the risk, aim to keep temperatures below 26°C and always ensure good ventilation.
Germination Tips in Hot Weather
-
Normally, we use weight during germination
-
In hot and humid conditions, remove the weight after 24 hours
-
This improves airflow and reduces mould risk
-
Continue germination in a dark but well-ventilated area
-
Daily Care
-
Spray your seeds twice a day, just like in normal conditions
-
Do not overwater
-
